Jeff’s Bel Meade “roots” go back to 1968 when his parents, COL Harley T. “Swampy” & Helen
Marsh bought their house in Bel Meade.
After graduating from North Texas State University, Jeff and his wife, Mary, lived in numerous
states as they pursued their professional careers in the financial services industry. No matter
where they resided they always found time to visit San Antonio and Bel Meade.
After working and living in the Chicago area for 14 years, they wanted to get to warmer weather so
they moved to San Antonio and Bel Meade in 2003. Currently retired, Jeff devotes his time to
numerous charitable and civic endeavors. He was on the Board of Directors for Boysville, was on
the Board of the Boysville Auxiliary and assisted in the management of their Thrift Store. He is a
member of the Optimist Club of San Antonio where he is a past President and sits on their Board
of Trustees. He is a member of Golf San Antonio's Tournament Operations Council and is
responsible for all the volunteers who work Gallery Control at the annual Texas Open golf
tournament.
Howard and Margie Peak have lived at 238 Medford (in two different houses) since 1985. They
enjoy the company of one beagle named Trooper, and two volunteer cats (both fixed). He has
been a Board member previously, including President, in the late '80s and early '90s.
Howard grew up in Alamo Heights and graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 1967,
where he met Margie Bratten (class of '68). Following his service in the U.S. Army, he graduated
from the University of Texas at Austin in 1974, and received his MA in Urban Studies and
Environmental Management from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1975.
Howard was elected to the San Antonio City Council in 1993, serving two terms until 1997. He
was then elected Mayor of San Antonio and served from 1997 until 2001. He then joined SBC,
now AT&T, where he continues to work. Howard is still involved in community affairs including
the San Antonio River Improvements Project, the City's creeks-based linear parks program, and
military base closing and realignment planning among others.
Andrew and his exquisite wife Yesenia moved to Bel Meade just over a year ago, with their
“babies” (dogs), returning to the city of their vows. Never actually living in San Antonio before, they
are thankful to have been graced with the amazing neighbors they have met in Bel Meade
through their participation in the Garden Club and neighborhood socials.
Before moving to Bel Meade they lived in Alexandria, VA, where Andrew worked on Capitol Hill for
two U.S. Congressmen. While in the DC area, he started a professional bookkeeping firm with a
business partner that is now a bi-coastal operation with offices in Washington DC and San
Francisco. In addition to managing his business, Andrew also teaches online undergraduate
courses for the University of Phoenix.
Andrew was born and raised around the corner from Tinker AFB in Midwest City, OK. As the
grandson of a Pearl Harbor survivor, he feels right at home in the neighborhood with its proud
military history and proximity to Ft. Sam Houston. Andrew finished undergrad with a B.S. in
Business Administration at the never uncontroversial school, Oral Roberts University, where he
met his beautiful bride. After starting an international import and retail business with her in
Tulsa, OK, Andrew obtained his graduate degree in International Trade and Development from
Oklahoma State University.
Dick and Lynn first moved to Bel Meade in 2002 following his retirement from the Army and their
move from Fort Sam Houston's historical Artillery Post. They initially rented a home on Wyanoke
for approximately 1½ years until they moved to Alexandria, Virginia and Dick's return to the
Pentagon, this time as a civilian. After almost 3 years, Dick and Lynn decided that they would
really prefer to be back in San Antonio. In 2006, they moved back to Bel Meade after purchasing
their home on Medford through the onsite eyes of their daughter and future in-laws.
Dick was born, raised and educated in suburban Chicago. While in college Lynn and Dick met
and were married while Dick was in graduate school and Lynn was student teaching. In 1981,
while on the staff of Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital in Chicago, Dick was recruited by the Army
Surgeon General's Office to transition from his reserve status to active duty. Most of his Army
career was spent on multiple tours in Washington, DC and Fort Sam Houston organizations
including the Great Plains Regional Medical Command, Headquarters U.S. Army Medical
Command and Fifth U.S. Army. Dick now works for U.S. Army North (Fifth Army) at Fort Sam
Houston. Dick and Lynn are easily spotted walking around Bel Meade with their 2 rescued
greyhounds, Custer and Juliet.
The Board Meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 6:00 p.m. at 101 Medford.
All Residents are welcome to attend. Please notify the Board, at least three days in advance, if you would like to place an item on the Board's agenda.
